Orphan

Orphan is the term used in printing or typography to describe a pagination error. The term describes the phenomenon when a heading or the first line of a section is not correctly displayed together with the associated text on a page or in a column, but on the previous page or in the previous column. To control such orphans, there are special setting options in CSS and XSL-FO, for example.
