DOM

A DOM (Document Object Model) is an API by World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) (a W3C standard since 1998) that describes how HTML and XML documents can be accessed independent of the programming language. The DOM model consists of nodes which contain documents, elements, and attributes that are connected with each other in a tree structure by pointers.
