APA

APA (all points addressability) is a term for the capability to address, reference, and position text, overlays and images at every point on the printable area of a page (e.g. every pixel of a bitmap). The relevance in connection with DMS results primarily from the widespread use of APA printers (e.g., IBM AFP or Xerox Metacode). APA printers can process images (signatures, logos) and advanced layout functions (form backgrounds, different fonts etc.).
