Code Page

An allocation table (depending on the respective operating system) assigning keys or key combinations to characters, which can be displayed on printer or screen. By changing the code page, e.g. the keyboard allocation can be adapted to different languages. Code pages are used exclusively at the operating system level. Inside applications (e.g. text processing software), characters from non-English language code pages can usually be selected via fonts if they are not included in the extended ASCII/ECDIC font.
