Barcode

Representation of characters as machine readable signs. The code consists of a system of narrow and wide, dark and bright bars arranged parallel to each other. One of the most common uses of barcode marks is the EAN code for the identification of various goods. The EAN code defines how each character is represented by barcode. In addition, other codes are in use, among them several for the representation of letters and figures.
