LPR

The Line Printer Remote (LPR) protocol is a network protocol for submitting print jobs to a remote printer. The protocol specification is documented in tools.ietf.org/html/rfc1179. The Common Unix Printing System (or CUPS), which is common on modern Linux distributions, supports LPR as well as the Internet Printing Protocol (IPP).
