Harald Grumser, founder and long-time CEO of Compart AG, was honored for his life's work on July 6, 2022, during the presentation of the Baden-Wuerttemberg 2022 Founders' Prize of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe (Germany). This makes the deserving entrepreneur the 18th prize winner in this category, which has been awarded once a year since 2004.
The jury's statement reads: "As early as the beginning of the 1990s, Grumser recognized the enormous potential that digitization held for the business world. His company Compart, founded in 1992, initially operated as a systems house before switching to software development. The basic idea was to enable conversion between different formats - starting with the graphic formats AFP and TIFF.
Today, Compart is an internationally active driver of innovation in omnichannel customer communication. Headquartered in Böblingen, Germany, the company sees itself as a bridge builder between the analog and digital worlds of documents. As head of the company, Harald Grumser lived a founding spirit until 2021, in which all employees in the company could participate. Barriers were systematically removed - for example, through offers for parents with small children or German courses for non-German-speaking employees."
In addition, the current Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Compart initiated several social projects, including in cooperation with the Böblingen District Council, such as the association "Böblingen District Remains Colorful," of which the software company is a founding member (www.lkbb-bb.de).
"Compatibility - the reconciliation of the different - is a word that characterizes Harald Grumser wonderfully, not only with regard to his work in software development, but also as a person," emphasized President Peter Schneider at the award ceremony. "He is a prime example of the uncomplicated doer who quickly recognizes problems and creates practicable solutions. Compart also impressively demonstrates how a relatively small, highly agile company with 170 employees can drive innovation."
