Accessible Documents – the Better Documents!
Bernd Steglich, Compart
Abstract
Today's document creation practices take little account of accessibility issues (freedom from barriers). The legislature has approved regulations on e.g. how to design barrier-free Internet documents. But it is not just document accessibility through screen readers, Braille, etc. that is important here. It is also about using structures within the documents that improve their quality to better support further processing. In addition to the traditional types of output – print, screen presentation – new technical media such as Smartphones, automobile communication systems, etc. need support. The presentation explains how to structure documents in the different data stream formats.
