CFF

All OpenType fonts with PostScript contours (.otf) use CFF (Compact Font Format) which reduces the file size substantially. Although strictly speaking, CFF is not a compression because the contours do not have to be decompressed for the output, the result is still more compact than Type 1. Moreover, the OpenType fonts of Adobe use a subroutine for a more pronounced size-reduction.
