On-the-Fly Resource Generation
Who hasn’t had this problem? The cumbersome search for character sets for a conversion? As an example, an item in a PDF page in TrueType Font is not automatically available on an AFP printer. In the best case this leads to incomplete printing of the document. But it is more likely that the document fails during processing. The input and output filters in the DocBridge family offer a variety of possibilities to find a solution.
One possibility is to dynamically produce the required resources in the favorite target format ”on-the-fly“, making it possible to produce AFP raster fonts from the TrueType-Fonts on the input page. (User scenario: Conversion of PDF to AFP). Another common conversion would be the production of Type-3 fonts from AFP raster fonts. (User scenario: Conversion of AFP to PostScript). Because the resources produced in the way are temporary, this approach obviously only makes sense when the resource is packaged together with the output file.
This does lead to larger files, but files which shine with the highest level of reproduction resolution. By combining this with other optimization features, the DocBridge family offers the highest levels of flexibility for concrete applications to find an optimum balance between resource usage and reproduction resolution.
