Strong Alliance for E-POSTBRIEF - Deutsche Post cooperates with Compart

Compart and Deutsche Post are expanding their partnership: Since 1 January 2011 the two companies have been officially cooperating in the areas of E-POSTBRIEF and Output Management. A contract to this effect was signed very recently. The aim of the envisaged long-term relationship is the development and marketing of software solutions for creating, optimizing and delivering E-POSTBRIEF mails (“electronic postal letters”). Compart will be contributing its proven know-how with respect to sophisticated, high-performance processing and distribution of documents.

The two companies have been working together for some time. So as soon as the E-POSTBRIEF was launched on the market last autumn, Compart came up with a built-in module to support this new facility within its DocBridge® Pilot software. With this module, companies can send their documents direct from DocBridge® Pilot via a standardized interface to the E-POSTBRIEF system at Deutsche Post. Thanks to the modular and flexible structure of DocBridge® Pilot, the E-POSTBRIEF module can be integrated very easily. And of course the application supports all types of output channels, including print.

Significant impetus for digital mail delivery

Numerous companies have started using this module, and the trend is increasing every day. According to Harald Grumser, Chairman of the Board at Compart: “The past few months have shown that the technical integration of both systems has worked successfully. Once again we have been able to prove our outstanding capability for processing data securely and efficiently, across media boundaries and also via innovative channels such as the E-POSTBRIEF.” He adds that the cooperation between the two companies is a mutually beneficial alliance, as it brings together the strengths and know-how of both parties for the efficient management of data streams of different formats. “Together we want to show our clients the competitive advantages that can be achieved through this form of electronic delivery.”

Dr. Georg Rau, Deutsche PostDr. Georg Rau, Member of the Management Board of the BRIEF Produkt & Operations E-POSTBRIEF division adds: “We deliberately chose Compart to be our development partner because they are one of the leading developers of scalable output management systems.” Dr. Rau expects the cooperation to produce significant impetus for further market penetration of E-POSTBRIEF.

A little background: DocBridge® Pilot is a software that sits on top of a database and is platform independent. It allows users to create customized deliveries for any output format, be it email, fax, E-POSTBRIEF or via web portals. It channels and groups data streams, optimizes the transmission for the carrier and offers the option of adding attachments dynamically. In addition, DocBridge® Pilot enables automatic postage payment (franking). And this is how it works: The import of incoming documents and the delivery of output are kept separate from each other. On the entry side, the software analyses the incoming documents and extracts the criteria that it needs for further processing in the shape of meta data. This can include comments in AFP data streams or page contents such as markings (optical mark recognition - OMR), barcodes or text. While the software is allocating the documents to a central delivery pool, the meta data are stored in a relational database. A printer driver on the PC workstations (clients) allows users to store their Office documents in the same delivery pool so that they too can be processed centrally.

The E-POSTBRIEF ensures secure communication across the Internet. Recipients always know who has sent the message, as each user has to provide unique identification by means of a so-called “Postident procedure” when first registering. The contents are encrypted so that no one can read or modify them. The E-POSTBRIEF can be delivered to anyone: If the recipient is not yet registered in the E-POSTBRIEF portal, the sender simply addresses the E-POSTBRIEF to his or her normal postal address. Deutsche Post then prints the electronic letter and delivers it in the usual way - via the postman. More and more companies are choosing this secure and cost-saving method of electronic delivery.
