DocBridge Pilot E-Postbrief Module from a Functional Point of View
With the DocBridge Pilot E-Postbrief module, the letters are sent electronically via a secure internet connection from the sender to Deutsche Post. There, the E-POSTBRIEF addresses of the addressees are stored. Using these, the letter is either forwarded electronically into the addressee's mailbox, or – if the addressee requests receiving the letter by post, the letter is printed out in Deutsche Post's print center, enveloped and sent to the addressee via the classic postal delivery method. Since Deutsche Post offers these two ways of delivery, this is called the hybrid model of the E-POSTBRIEF letter.
When importing the documents into DocBridge
Pilot, the addressee addresses are matched to the local E-POSTBRIEF database of DocBridge Pilot. A list of E-POSTBRIEF addresses already known is
generated.
All other addresses are uploaded to the E-POSTBRIEF system of Deutsche Post and matched against the central E-POSTBRIEF directory. In this way, the local E-POSTBRIEF database in DocBridge Pilot is augmented by new E-POSTBRIEF addresses.
The DocBridge Pilot converts the imported documents to PDF/A-1b documents, zips them and uploads them together with an XML index file to the Deutsche Post E-POSTBRIEF system. There the data is unzipped and processed further as described above.
Finally, the result of the transaction is returned to DocBridge Pilot in order to permit a defined resumption even in case of a disrupted data transmission.
